Tyl's birth house was originally called "The House at the Golden Comb" and stood in the former Čáslavská Street, today's Tyl Street. In its present form, it was built on Gothic foundations after the great fire of 1823, when a large part of the town district was burnt down. Since 1862, a medallion relief of Tyl's bust with a description has been installed on the front facade of the house, reminding us that J. K. Tyl, writer, playwright and author of the text of the Czech national anthem "Where My Home Is", was born here on 4 February 1808.

The exhibition is dedicated to the life and work of this important figure of the Czech National Revival.
